Going in to Menopause in your early 40's? |
When I was 41 I had my tubes tied. I'm now 45 & have not had a period for 7 months. The one before that was after an 11 month absence. My GYN did a blood test that indicated that I was indeed going through Menopause. I had my only child when I was 24. I was on & off the Pill from the age of 19. Has anybody else gone through Menopause at such an early age? I found some stuff on the net that said that after having your tubes tied you go through Menopause early. I also heard that the younger you are when you get your first period the sooner you go through Menopause? I was 11 when I got my first period. I was never very reguler unless I was on the Pill. I'm also VERY emotional & starting to get some really bad hot flashes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks. With the exception of the TL, I swear it sounds as if you're describing MY life! I can say from experience that the earlier you begin your period the earlier menopause, is a myth. I began my periods at 9 yrs of age and began menopause at 56 yrs old. I do have a friend who never had children and did not have her tubes tied or a hysterectomy that began menopause at 36 yrs old. Her doctor confirmed it and her periods stopped completely when she was 38 yrs of age. That is very early but it isn't rare or usual, unfortunately for some. Perhaps you might check into harmone therapy to stop the hot flashes and your emotions from going haywire. I hope this helped. I am 37 and pre menopausal. I had my tubes tied at 34 and I got my period at 10. I have 3 kids and I started at 27 stopped at 33. Now I get a monthly period, but sometimes it is hardly even a period and sometimes it is really bad. I am always hot and I retain a ton of water all month long. There are some natural things that you can get at GNC that help with the hot flashes. Ask your doctor and I am sure that she/he would probably know. I don't want to tell you some products that I am taking and have you get sick because everyone is different. Good luck Although there is no rule about when menopause will come, there is usually (not always) a direct relation with the time of your first period. The difference between "normal" and "average" age of menopause is similar to what we keep telling young girls about when their periods will start. There is tremendous variation. Although the average age for menopause is 51, 45 is still officially within the "normal" range, because normal is a very wide range. |
