Meningitis, Please help me figure it out? |
I HAVE HAD VIRAL MENINGITIS IN THE PAST, BUT I WAS RECENTLY HOSPITALIZED AND HAD TO SHARE A BATHROOM WITH ANOTHER PERSON WHO HAS SOME TYPE OF MENINGITIS, AND SINCE I HAVE BEEN HOME MY NECK HAS BEEN HURTING AND IS SORT OF STIFF, AND ALL DOWN MY SPINE ALSO HURTS AND IS STIFF, FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS NOW, BUT NO SIGNIFIGANT PAIN YET, I ONLY WORRY THAT I MAY HAVE CONTRACTED IT BECAUSE I AM PREGANAT AND I DONT WANT THE BABY TO BE HURT BY IT, SHOULD I WORRY, OR WOULD MY PAIN BE MORE SEVERE BY NOW IF I HAD IT? ANY THOUGHTS I DONT HAVE A HIGH FEVER OR ANY OF THE OTHER SYMPTOMS, AND THE NECK STIFFNESS IS RELATIVELY MILD, AND I CAN MOVE MY HEAD BACK AND FORTH If she was contagious she would have been in quarantine and not allowed to share a bathroom with anyone, I do not know how far along you are in your pregnancy but lots of times the baby lays on a nerve causing discomfort to you neck and back. I have five children and my third one i also had very severe back pains and neck pains, one day they got so bad i went to the emergency room, I was not due for another 3 weeks and when i got there I was 100% efaced and 9 1/2 centimeters dilated. It could be just the pregnancy , if you are concerned I would call your OB or Mid wife and talk about your concerns not get advice on here, there are some crazies that will advise you the wrong way . good luck GO TO THE DOCTOR. NOW!!! It sounds like you definitely have Meningitis.Go to your ER and make sure you tell them right away that you have been exposed to it,that way you will get immediate treatment and they won't put you out in the waiting room with the general public where you could potentially pass it along to someone else, especially those with a compromise immune system(children).Meningitis Kills! If they had you in the same room as a person with meningitis, they obviously felt it was safe for you to be in there or you would not have been assigned that room. I would not worry about contracting this. If the person was contagious, there would not have been ANYONE else put into that room. You also have to remember that you were in a strange bed for a couple of nights and that would be causing all of your neck and muscle pain. Take some tylenol and see how it goes. If it gets worse, talk with your doctor. |
