Meningitis Outbreak In My School, Please Help.?

A Senior At my high school died today. He got bacterial meningitis. Yesterday after taking a midterm, he got really sick, and died today in the hospital.

My school is closed tomorrow, and monday, because for the next four days they are sanitising my school.

i know what bacterial meningitis is.

but how do you get it? and how can i prevent myself from getting it, please help!

To protect yourself from the bacterial type, make sure you wash your hands well and often, dont share food or drinks with anyone who looks sick, and if you start feeling bad, if your neck gets really stiff, or if you get a fever talk to your parents or go to the ER right away! Its basically the same stuff youd do to prevent getting any sort of cold. Also the condition really is treatable if you can get to an ER in time.

In all likelyhood youll be just fine, and have nothing to worry about , but its always better to keep an eye out. Just dont stress to much over it.

heres a list of symptoms just in case:

* A high fever
* Severe headache
* Vomiting or nausea with headache
* Confusion, or difficulty concentrating
* Seizures
* Sleepiness or difficulty waking up
* Stiff neck
* Sensitivity to light
* Lack of interest in drinking and eating
* Skin rash in some cases
