If u got an meningitis shot could u still get meningitis?

if u got an meningitis shot could u still get meningitis feeling all the symptoms of meningitis, and if so would it go away on its own due to the shot?

Well there are many types of meningitis. In fact all meningitis means is, "any infection or inflammation of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord." "Most common causes are bacterial infection with Strep pneumoniae, Neisseria meningitidis, or H. influenzae." Viral causes can include arboviruses, herpesviruses, poliomyelitis viruses and others.

The vaccine is active against meningococcal meningitis which is caused by the bacteria Neisseria meningitidis.

It is possible to still get meningitis from viruses, chemicals, neoplasms, and fungal infections even after having the vaccine.

Go see your doctor if you are experiencing symptoms of meningitis. Symptoms: severe headache, stiffness of the neck, irritability, malaise, restlessness, nausea, vomitting, delirium, increased temperature, increased pulse rate, and increased respirations.

it's possible but very unlikely that you could get it after you get the shot.

yes you can but its not a server

Yes because like flu there are different strains - its a serious complaint if you suspect it get help immediately.

you could still get meningitis but its a very slight chance because your shot makes you immune to it. im not sure if you get it, it would go away (speaking of meningitis.)

With every vaccinations, there is a slim chance you can still get what you were vaccinated for.

If you got the shot prior to having meningitis, you might catch a less dangerous type of the meningitis strand. But if you are experiencing meningitis symptoms, I would talk to your doctor as soon as possible.

The shot is the actual virus in a domant state- along with medicines. If you get the shot and your body doesn't accept the meds, yes you can get it. Do some real research though. Don't just take any of our words for it alone.

No vaccine is 100%, if you just got the shot within the last days you may just be feeling sick from that. As long as you can touch your chin to your chest without passing out you should be fine but obviously you may want to call the place you got the shot from to ask them

meningitis is an inflammation of the meningeal tissues surrounding the brain. There are numerous causes, the shot is for the meningococcus organism that can cause meningitis. But that is only one cause, there are others for which there is no preventive.

Meningitis is a generic medical term referring to an inflammation around the spinal cord. The so-called "meningitis vaccine" only covers a specific bacteria known to cause meningitis--neisseria meningitidis. This is the most common type of meningitis, but it does not cover the many other types of bacteria that can also cause infections of the spinal cord. Therefore, you can definitely get meningitis from these other bacteria, or several types of viruses. If you think you have it, you need to get to an ER, pronto.
