Commercial about meningitis?? What was the site? |
There's this commerical, i haven't seen it in the last week though, and it was talking about meningitis. "You can get meningitis by sharing drinks, kissing, or even being in close contact." and they show two desks close together.and then at the end of a commercial they say a website to learn more. anyone remember what the website waS? oh, and here's a picture of the commerical, maybe to remind you? http://www.flickr.com/photos/skampy/5632... That commercial should be banned. It SAYS that contracting the disease is extremely rare, yet it goes on to tell you that you need to give your kids their product to prevent the disease. It is one of the worst examples of scare tactic marketing I've ever seen. I went to college, law school and graduate school, have known tens of thousands of college students and their families and probably have had contact with countless thousands more in my life. I have heard of ONE case of mennigitas, and it was not the one they talk about in that commercial. The chances of getting this disease are so miniscule that the risks of taking the drug probably outweigh it hundreds of times over. Probably viral meningitis, which is more common and less serious than the bacterial form. Any website about meningitis can give you information. Click on this site for the CDC (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention) I've seen that commercial over and over, but I don't remember the website. I'm sure it was for the Meningitis Research Association or something like that though. |
