Meningitis or what?

I have been sick for a week. I am no longer congested and sounding like a glazed donut. But my cough is still here and isn't showing any sign of going anywhere either. I will often have coughing fits, and it will keep me up at night no matter what I take. At the beginning of my cold I was really nauseous and I had the worst stiff neck. It went away through the week. But now I have the stiff neck again. I have a hard time staying awake as well. I will be sitting on the couch doing something and next thing I know I have been sleeping for hours. I get seven-eight hours of sleep, I am not tired.
Before I got sick I was getting little sleep between work and school. I got maybe four hours every night, which is why I figured I got sick because of a weak immune system.
I read about meningitis on the internet, whats the chances of me having that? Or aren't my symptoms that serious?

There are two types of meningitis: bacterial and viral. While both are bad, bacterial meningitis is very serious and often fatal.

If you are really worried you should be evaluated by a doctor.

But keep in mind that you just stated that you have coughing fits where you can't stop. I'd be easily convinced that your stiff neck is from you coughing violently.

If oyu have a bad neck & headache & can't lie on your back & oull your knees to your chest then you could have meningitis. See a Dr. if you aren't feeling better.
