Meningitis vaccinations in high school?

i'm a sophomore in high school and recently the school sent home a notice saying we're all required to get our meningitis vaccinations now. i know students usually get them in their senior year because its now mandatory for attending college but is it really a big deal for me to get vaccinated when i'm not even going to be attending college for another 2 years? also is there some sort of law forcing me to get the vaccination if my school wants me too or can i refuse? i really don't think its neccessary to be vaccinated until college.

Here is a website that contains exemption information for each state in the US. You do have rights. So you might want to do some research before you get it.
There is still thimerosal (mercury) in vaccinations. One of the Meningitis vaccines still has it in there. And the other one has formaldehyde in it. That does not sound safe. Here is the list of ingredients:

So delay the vaccine until you find out the information on the vaccine. Unless you are going to a private college, I do not think that they can deny your right to waive vaccines. Good luck.

honey, menegitus is something you don't want. You can die from it. I'd get it, just to be safe.

my 13 yr old was vaxed for it this fall. College living conditions makes the condition spread more quickly and makes it more likely you will be exposed...it doesn't mean you can't get it before then.

i got the meningitis vaccine when i was in grade 8.Its almost completly safe and 99.9% effective. You have nothing to worry about =)
