Meningitis concern?

I'm concerned that I have meningitis.
I know that this question has been asked so many times, but I'd like some clarity.
I'm experiencing stiffness of neck and back, cold, sore throat, and chills.
Is this simply the flu?

I agree, these are common symptoms.
I thought I would get a few opinions before running out to the doctor for something that isn't serious.

I do not know, this I do know -

What are the signs and symptoms of meningitis?
High fever, headache, and stiff neck are common symptoms of meningitis in anyone over the age of 2 years. These symptoms can develop over several hours, or they may take 1 to 2 days. Other symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, discomfort looking into bright lights, confusion, and sleepiness. In newborns and small infants, the classic symptoms of fever, headache, and neck stiffness may be absent or difficult to detect, and the infant may only appear slow or inactive, or be irritable, have vomiting, or be feeding poorly. As the disease progresses, patients of any age may have seizures.

are you simply an idiot? go see your doctor

They could be the symptoms of lots of things, flu, cold, even an allergy. Meningitis is not that common, bend your head forward, does your chin touch your chest? If so it's doubtful it's spinal meningitis which is the worst one to have. Make an appointment to see a doctor for the flu.

Regardless of what it is, it is sickness and you need to be seen. There is a deadly meningitis called Meningococcal Meningitis going around that has some pretty bad symptoms and the most 'risk' group is teenagers because they share kisses, foods and beverages, drinking fountains, etc, and are spreading this disease. There is commercials on the TV all the time now telling people to get 'wise' against this spreading and killing disease. I would contact your doctor, especially if you have been doing any of the above.

My sport's Doc told me pull sidway's on bavvk of Head den do frontws. That stop the cracking in youneck

Go see your doctor. Meningitis or not, you should definitely go. The most common symptom associated with meningitis is the inability to bend your chin to your neck without pain. But it could also simply be the flu.

This could be numerous things. It could be meningitis, could be the flu, colds, etc. Go see your doctor - that's the easiest way to get answers on potentially serious illnesses.

Yes they are symptoms of the flu but I highly suggest you see your doctor back in 2002 November 10th I lost my best friends to menigitus Megan riely . The doctors didnt even know its a quick spreading and killing virus you should deffiently get it checked now because once it becomes virul it is very hard to get rid of and why it is at the bacterial state it can be easy. Alls it took was the split second for hre dad to go down stairs to get Tylenol and to come upstairs to see his
daughter dead.

Have you been in close contact (i.e. roommate, family member, or other close person) with someone who has meningitis? If not, you can wait to see your doctor in the am. (It's VERY rare to contract meninigitis from passing someone on the street. Not impossible, but unlikely.)

Think about this:

Can you put your chin to your chest? If you can, it's probably a muscle ache. If you can not, you need to go to the ER. Do you have a rash? If you do, you need to go to the ER.
