HELPP MENINGITIS? IM PARANOIDd?

OK SO RECENTLY ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS GOT MENINGITIS AND IS NOW IN A CRITICAL CONDITION.
I JUST REALISED THAT I HAVE A SMALL RASH ON THE BACK OF MY ANKLE, IM 13 AND I DONT REALLY KNOW WHAT TO DO, ITS ALL IVE REALISED SO FAR, BUT MY MUSCLES DO FEEL ABIT STIFF, AND IVE NEVER BEEN KEEN ON LIGHT FROM A YOUNG AGE, GOD KNOWS WHY, SO THAT MEANS THAT WONT HELP ME, ANYONE KNOW WHAT TO DO?

Please go to your parents tonight. Show them your rash. The rash for meningitis can not be confused with a skin rash---it is caused by blood clotting in your extremities. It is purple in color. You would also have a high fever, photosensitivity, and neck regidity. You don't sound like you are sick, but just have a rash. Meningitis will make you deathly ill. I would still talk to your parents tonight, right NOW!!!! Good Luck

Go to the school nurse and ask her opinion. She will steer you in the right direction. Sometimes when we are in your situation we can worry and bring on symptoms which would be associated with the disease. I believe a high fever and stiff neck are also symptoms...if you do have it and it is treated early you will be ok...don't fraze...ask the nurse....tomorrow.

If you devolop cold, flu or a high temp get to a Doctor/E.R. Just to let you know the only way to confirm that you have menigitis is a spinal tap and they won't do that unless you have more symptoms...

If you were in contact with this friend before he/she got sick, which I'm assuming you were, then you should be tested for menigitis & may be lucky enough to get away with oral antibiotics and not get as sick as they are. Go to your parents right away & have them take you to the doctor. Meningitis is very serious & easily spread.
