It seems I have a brain tumor... do you know how to explain some things in layman's terms?

Greetings, dear ones. I had some surprising results on my recent head CT. I was diagnosed with a calcified meningioma (brain tumor) on the right lobe of my brain. (They suspected a stroke or Complex Migraine Syndrome... not this.)

My doctor was re-assuring... but you know how it is to struggle with getting your brain around something so serious... (pardon the pun.)

The only site I've found specifically on my situation is full of medico-speak... and I'm too tired to try to translate it. ...I know God is going to handle it. I just need guidance tonight.

See: http://www.righthealth.com/Health/calcif...

Do you - or any of your contacts - have any medical training to explain to me in layman's terms the parameters of this type of tumor? I only learned of it today - what questions should I ask the neurosurgeon when I see him?

I cannot have MRI's due to metal in my body.

Thank you all in advance. Peace.

Thanks precious ones.

God is REALLY in it - and I know that. I have experiences with MANY miracles in my life - and the lives of my friends and family. I have many, many verses to claim... among those are: Jeremiah 17:14-15; and 32:17; and 33:6, Deuteronomy 32:39, and Mark 9:23-24.

...Can any of y'all think of questions you would ask the neurosurgeon?

My only question of God - is - was there someone new you needed me to meet, that I would not otherwise meet? And - Would You please give me the understanding, the words, and the discernment to follow Your plan.

Peace.

meningioma is a benign tumor of the brain, although a more agresive variation is also present, but very rare. actually it is located between the brain and the membrane that covers the brain. the general prognosis is good, although it also depend on the location of the tumor. it is usually possible to completely remove the tumor from the brain if the tumor that is located on the brain surface (and away from the brain main venous system). while for tumor that located on the skull base usually pose a greater problems due to it's proximity to vital nerve and blood vessel, which prevent it from total tumor removal. for conclusion, it is possible to attain complete recovery (without complications) with low chance of recurrency if the tumor is completely removed.

Our daughter-in-law had this same surgery done about three years ago.All went well and she is fine today. But we can still pray about this, God does answer prayer, and we need to be praying at our house anyway. Please let us know how it turns out.May God grant you a quick and speedy recovery.

Dear sister,

May the peace of God hold you tightly. I do not have any medical info for you but I thought I might relay an event I witnessed about three years ago. Mind you this entire series of events took place over about 2 months.

I knew of a young boy about 10 who was an amazing baseball player. When he played little league it was honestly like an eighth grader would be to a fourth grader. Nearly every hit a home run.

Anyway as the season progressed, he began missing the ball when he would swing and feeling tired and dizzy while playing. He would miss easy catches and it seemed like he could not judge distances quite right.

So, he went to the Dr. they ran the tests and found a tumor, a very large one in his brain. It was quite easy to see on the films. They set up surgery right away.

Our Church (and countless others) began praying for the boy, it was just so sad. He and his family were believers as well. As they were prepping him and giving him the anesthesia the Dr. told him, "Don't worry there are a lot of good Doctors that are going to take care of you."

The boy told him, "Why would I worry, do you have any idea how many people are praying for me?"

So, began the operation. They opened his skull to where the film clearly showed a very large tumor and guess what?

NOTHING WAS THERE! There were signs of where it had been but there was no tumor. The boy made a full recovery and in post op he told the Dr., "See I told you my God would help me."

I know not every one is healed but God is powerful and he loves you and will be glorified in your situation.

Grace and peace be to you my sister.

Apparently, from the article. this type of tumor is almost never malignant. In other words, it may grow, but won't put out the dangerous 'fingers' malignant tumors do.
The article also said that removal of this type of tumor has a high rate of success and since the tumor is not malignant is not likely to return.

The word 'meningioma' is the word used to describe the type of cells which mutate to cause this type of cancer. The type of cells are mostly found in the face and head, usually the sinuses or lining of the brain.

Hope this helps some.

Take Care and God Bless You.
He is holding you in His arms.
Molly
