Melanoma mole????

when i was a little girl i noticed i got a mole on the side of my waist, i hated it so i started scratching it to take it off, and some how i did, well at least partly. It was kind of taken off but it was like still hanging there like a loose scab. One of my relatives saw what i did because i was bleeding and she got some antibiotics and some gauze and tape and kind of put it back. After a few days it did heal and i still have it on till this day...but i'm scared because lately i've been noticing that its changing colors, its like a light tan brown and in the middle its dark black and its about the size of a pencil eraser. I'm scared it might melanoma skin cancer because i've been looking at pics on the web and there are certain pics that look like my mole. Its mostly the 2 different shades of colors on it that look cancerous like the ones on the pics. Has anyone out there had melanoma mole? Can i get skin cancer from taking off a mole when i was little?

No you cannot get Melanoma from picking your mole. You can get it from just one sunburn though. I want you to go Monday to a doctor and get the thing removed and biopsied. Don't let them shave it off. have the whole thing removed. If it is Melanoma and it is shaved, staging the tumor will be difficult. What you are describing sounds like it could very well be Melanoma. DO NOT let a doctor say to you, "Well lets watch it". My doctors niece died of Melanoma that way. This is a very aggressive cancer and has a tendency to metastasize quickly. The good news is that you have been watching it and it has only recently begun to change. This means that even if it is Melanoma you have a really good chance of total cure. I diagnosed my Melanoma successfully using the info on line and comparing it. Unfortunately, I couldn't see mine. My daughter saw it and we caught it later than you. It looked like the pictures online. I had to have lymph nodes removed, and won't know if it metastasized until it's too late! Good luck to you.

Good. I wish you lots of luck! Report It

You should see a doctor for an evaluation because of the recent change. You should see a professional who can examine it. People can only make guesses here.

Picking it years ago would not cause cancer.

A dermatologist is the specialist you want to go and see and SOON. Good luck!
