Skin cancer- melanoma? |
ok, knowing that melanoma is the fatal type of skin cancer... does it matter where its found? like with other cancers if its like anywhere near your spine or something then its a lot worse than anywhere else. is it the same with melanoma? does the place of the cancer make it worse or is it just that you have it kinda thing? Actually, it doesn't really matter where it is found, it matters how deep, and if it has metastasized or not. That's what makes this kind worse. Melanoma is the worst type of skin cancer to get. The trick is to get it removed and start treatment immediately. I believe it can be worse when close to major organs. My grandmother had one on her right calve and had to have it removed and had two treatments of very evasive chemo that went along with two surgeries. This happened 26 years ago and my grandmother will be celebrating her 89th birthday in November. Good Luck! No it all depends on whether it has spread or not. If it hasn't spread they can cut it out and you're normally OK, otherwise you have problems. Please do not focus on answers you get here on yahoo unless it is from a specialist. Go to a website that can give you more information but most important, go right away to a dermatologist. There are certain types of skin cancer that can affect other organs if not treated in early stages. Please check following Ask the experts Melanoma kills. |
