Melanoma?! please answer.?

alright, here's the deal. i've had this somewhat small mole on my shoulder my whole life. but, just like, two days ago, i looked at it for some reason, and like, around the top, there's like a U shape? idk, like imagine a ball. and its sitting on the ground, and you put a horseshoe on top of it. most of it is surrounded, but the bottom part isnt. like, if it was a square, the top, left and right sides would be like this. anyways, that 'u shape' is a TINY bit lighter, (barely) than the rest of the mole, and it looks maybe a little puffy? also barely.

i'm completely scared of the doctor and such, don't ask why, i dont know. i just get freaked out. and i'm nervous. i mean some of my friends said im probably freaking out over nothing, but i do that alot and im just nervous i guess. i mean it doesnt look that bad but yeah.

i couldnt find any pictures of melanoma that looked like what i have.
its round still, and its not asymmetrical, just a tiny bit of color difference, but thats it.

it's NOT asymmetrical, it's round. and it's always been raised, like a little bump. my whole life. i'm just saying the stuff that's just a little lighter is raised with the rest of the mole like it has always been.

Please don't trust us for an answer like this! Your health is more important than the word of any cyber community.

I know you hate doctors, but if you start ignoring serious things you might well end up waiting till you need to be hospitalized with surgery or extended treatment. Would be much more trauma.

Odds are it is NOT serious, but only your doctor can tell for sure. They should at least take a look so they can be aware and watch it for changes. If it is anything to be concered about, it can likely be removed quickly and painlessly.

Have a friend go with you if you are really that nervous. But just suck up and go. Otherwise you will sentence yourself to months of useless worry and nervousness and stress, which by the way is ALSO not good for your health!

well hate drs or not you need to get it checked out dear just to be on the safe side!

Be smart get to your dr soon!!

God bless!

Could be, but probably not. Have it looked at by a Dr. Having one taken off is not bad either. Only takes a few minutes for one like you described.

If your mole is asymmetrical, different colors, or raised off your skin, it could be melanoma. You should definitely go to see your doctor even if you think it might be, because then you can have the mole removed. It's better to have it removed unnecessarily rather than find out too late that you have skin cancer. And just think about how much experience doctors have had with their many patients--there's really nothing to be scared about.

I would go to the dermatologist just to ease your mind. It could be nothing but you never know that is why if you have any concerns you should just get it checked out. I don't like going to the doctor either because I fear that they are going to say the worst so I get that. Definitely go just to be sure because if it does turn out to be something the sooner it is found the better! Good job keeping your eyes open! I wish you luck!

that doesnt sound like melanoma. i had a mole with a tumor under it that had signs of melanoma which turned out to be B9, which means it wasnt cancer. did you go in to webmd.com and see if it was in there? I'm sure it is. melanoma is a reddish purple color. if i remember right. i'd get it checked anyway just to make sure.

It could be nothing, then again it could be nothing now and cancer in a year or so. Get checked, most dermatologist do free skin cancer screenings

I myself had a mole almost under my arm my whole life and it started to get irritated for no apparent reason one day .It made me think of the same thing you,re worried about. So I,m not the GREATEST fan of doctors either but, I had the doc look at it .He gave me a local anastetic ,which really did,nt hurt because it worried me enough to say hey get it checked out .Because the Doc sent it off and it was nothing to be worried about and thats what you really need to do so if it is something serious it can be treated now . Look I,m kind of a big baby about needles but don,t let time go by when you can get it checked out now.

Please have a Doctor look at it. Only a trained eye can be sure, even then the Doc. may possibly want to take it off. DO IT!... My father ignored his doctor about this very thing, and he is no longer with us. Life is too precious, take precaution. It is very simple and life saving to have a questionable mole removed. DL
