My dad has melanoma?

he had skin cancer before and went through surgery in '05. we thought it was all over. more than two years later, he is diagnosed with melanoma throughout his body. he claims that the excruciating pain is in his bones, and everyday activities can no longer be done by him. the doctor is bringing him in for kemo on Jan 5, 2008 and is expected to live for 2-6 months. is there a chance they can cure him? i need to know

Oh honey, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. There is ALWAYS a chance of someone beating cancer so don't give up. Melanoma, however, is a nasty cancer. My husband fought it for a year and just passed away on the 7th. There are a lot of new things that they are trying - unfortunately it was too late for my husband. Had he been stronger they would have tried a new protocol which is curing some people. Your dad's doctors will know if he is strong enough to try such a new drug.

With chemo we were able to give my husband another 6 months. Everyone is different. Try to stay positive and give dad as much support as you can.

Also, get some support for yourself. It is a difficult time trying to hold up someone you love. I wish that I could tell you more. Don't be afraid to discuss things with dad's doctor and ask them to be honest with you. If you need additional support, call your local cancer society. They were very helpful to our family.

My prayers and thoughts will be with your and your family.

Start feeding him lots of flax seeds. they have been shown to treat or cure some types of cancer all together. Now that he's tried everything start looking to alternative medicines.
