Does anyone have information on Melanoma in the lung?

Someone I know just had a melanoma removed from his lung. This has to have a source that it came from , but one can't be found. He had a pre Melanoma removed from his lip when he was very young. He has had scans, ct, mri's . Please Serious Answeres Only.

I have recently been diagnosed with Malignant Melanoma with mets to lymph nodes, stage III. Melanoma is a very serious disease. It is referred to as the "beast". Its ribbon color is black. I have been doing ALOT of research on my disease. I have read that on occasion, a primary source may not be found. What were his scan, ct, and mri results? Has he had a bone scan or pet? I have been ordered ALL of these tests. Has a treatment option been recommended? I have gotten alot of good information from websites like the American Cancer Society. Melanoma is a malignant tumor of melanocytes and, less frequently, of retinal pigment epithelial cells (of the eye, see uveal melanoma). While it represents one of the rarer forms of skin cancer, melanoma underlies the majority of skin cancer-related deaths.[1][2] Despite many years of intensive laboratory and clinical research, the sole effective cure is surgical resection of the primary tumor before it achieves a thickness of greater than 1 mm.

Melanoma of the skin accounts for 160,000 new cases worldwide each year, and is more frequent in white men.[3] It is particularly common in white populations living in sunny climates.[4] According to the WHO Report about 48,000 deaths worldwide due to malignant melanoma are registered annually.[5]

The diagnosis of melanoma requires experience, as early stages may look identical to harmless moles or not have any color at all. Moles that are irregular in color or shape are suspicious of a malignant melanoma or a premalignant lesion.

The treatment includes surgical removal of the tumor; adjuvant treatment; chemo- and immunotherapy, or radiation therapy.

I am a cancer RN. Your question has me baffled. Usually when a melanoma goes to the lung, it starts from somewhere on the skin. A melanoma in the lung, is metastatic, but not likely. to start there. I have taken care of cancer pts who had a primary breast tumor in the 1979 show back up in 1995. Cancer really is a sneaky disease. I am praying for you.
Just have faith and believe all things are possible. Pray and have faith.
