Skin cancer?(melanoma)?

i saw on the tyra show an episode about skin cancer, they showed a picture of a dark toe and said that it was melanoma..
i noticed that i too have a dark toe.. first i thought it was blood and it'll go away .. but it has been more than three years now.. how can i be sure if it is skin cancer?

I have been battling melanoma for 8 years. I almost died the last round. It first started when I was 21. In my case, it was a mole I had had for a while. I can also start under finger/toenails and as a discoloration. GO SEE A DERMATOLOGIST. A general practitioner looked at my melanoma, told me not to worry about it, and by the time I saw a dermatologist a year later, it was very deep. Melanoma is a fascinating, terrible cancer. It spreads so quickly, and it resistant to almost all treatments.

Go to the doctor and ask.

I had a melanoma removed and I am very young. It was a mole I had for years! Then the doctor looked around and ones that I thought could be cancer, she wasn't concerned about. They couldn't stress enough how serious melanoma is so if you are unsure, have it checked by a doctor. If you are in the sun or tanning beds a lot that increases your chance and also if it runs in the family.
