What are the chances this is melanoma?

I was told as a child that because I had MANY severe sunburns (almost weekly from ages 7-16 in the Summer), I have blond hair, blue eyes, and lots of moles...that the doctors would be surprised if I DIDN'T get skin cancer eventually. I never thought much about it until now:

I have read about the ABCD's of melanoma and I have several moles that fail them all. Two on my left upper thigh worry me the most, as they are almost completely flat, asymetrical, multi-colored, about the size of a pencil eraser, and getting worse by the day it seems (probably a little exagerated). Another is on my right thigh and the only reason it worries me is because it has a black border on one side. Another is on my belly and is almost flat, almost black (way darker than any of the rest), and a little bigger than a pencil eraser. I also have many other moles and freckles in various spots that have either black or white spots in them. I am going to the dermatologist on June 6th.

What do you think?

No one can diagnose this on this site. Your decision to see a dermatologist is smart. You don't wanna mess around with moles, esp. those that change.

go to the doctor have them checked ask to have them removed so you want worry.

GREETINGS, we really can't diagnose on this site but from the sounds of it, it's possible it could be melanoma, or basal cell skin cancer, but again it might not be, as some moles just grow strangely and so do freckles. I have one that is the size of pencil eraser very irregular borders and 1 black spot in the middle of it and recently it grew off a strange line to one side, the dermatologist said it's a strange freckle not to worry so you might be ok, I have blue eyes, blonde hair and very fair skin too. Just be sure to keep the dr appt, you might want to look on your scalp too, moles can hide there, my dr did that too, I have 1 mole on my scalp, my dr suggested wearing tons of skin screen and a hat. It's hot but to be safe I do it.

Good luck at the dr and I hope they are nothing to worry about.

You have already educated yourself re Melanoma, KEEP your doctors appointment!

Here are some pictues of skin cancers and "normal" moles. Perhaps this will help.
