Is milignant melanoma the same as melanoma, or is it a type of melanoma?

I guess what I am trying to ask is If someone has melanoma, does that mean it may not be cancerous???? or does it have to be malignant in order for the melanoma to be cancerous

Melanoma or malignant melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancers. However if it is recognized and treated early l; it is nearly 100% curable. But if it's not the it can advance and spread to other parts of the body; where it becomes hard to treat and can be fatal. While, this is not the most common of skin cancers , it causes most deaths.

Melanoma is a malignant tumor that originates in the melanocytes. These are cells which produces the pigment melanin . This colors the skin, hair eyes and is heavily concentrated in most moles. The majority of melanomas, therefore are black or brown. However, melanomas occasionally occasionally stop producing pigment. When that happens, the melanomas may no longer be dark; but a skin colored, pink , red or purple. r

Malignant means that it IS cancerous.
