Please help me I dont want to take any medication for my anxiety is there something else I can use?

no medications some type of herb or medicinal food

There is no herbal supplement or food stuff that will give you any kind of clinical relief from anxiety.

Why don't you want to try medicine? Have you ever used any before?

There are some techniques you can do to try and relax your body like remembering to breathe slow and regularly during anxious moments, that alone can really help.

to do yoga! it really helps

Bananas - they have vitamin b12 and that can really work wonders for your moods. Also - long walks, reading, and driving really help me. If you are having an anxiety attack you could try breathing into a paper bag.

I would not resort to medication. Everyone I know who has tried medication have only gotten worse - so I would not recommend it. All of my friends are slowly getting weened off of their medication because they hated the way they felt, and they are all going through really bad withdrawls. The doctors use people as lab rats by pumping you with medication that hasnt been around for very long, therefore testing its possible side effects with their patients. People come out worse then they were before the meds, just dont let that happen to you.

I feel the same way as u do. Just talk to a counselor 2 help relieve ur stress. I wish I wasn't on anti-anxiety medicine.

The only herb that calms my nerves is hot green tea. Drink this in the evening 30min.- 1hr. before you go to bed it can relax your body well enough to get better sleep. The best food you can eat with out gaining wait and still fill your stomach would be oats (oatmeal, cornflakes, waffles, wheat bread, bagels). If you are having a hard time sleeping because of anxiety you should stay up (in a quiet room, reading a book or doing puzzle books) until you fall asleep.

Take some time to write out all your triggers of your anxiety. Then, review each one and set a preventative goal for each trigger. Seek the help of a mental health professional if you keep having difficulty. I am not sure about any herbs or medicinal foods that can help this disorder.

Kava kava (Piper methysticum)

Kava kava is used for treating anxiety, promoting sleep

Recommended dosage:

The standardized extract potency of its active ingredient, kavalactone, should be 30 percent (15 mg per capsule). For daytime relief of anxiety, take 250 mg (one capsule or one-half dropperful), three times daily with meals.

You can take four to six capsules for sleep (up to 1,500 mg). Do not take it continuously for a prolonged period of time (over four months).

Valerian

The extract of valerian has been the treatment of choice for anxiety and insomnia throughout the world. It is a sedative and painkiller. Helpful in treating insomnia. Valerian root taken at bedtime aids in preventing panic attacks at night.

Valerian is quite safe to take for short periods of time. However, its long-term effects are not known.

Recommended dosage:

For daytime anxiety, take 150 mg (standardized extract of 0.8 percent valeric acid) three times daily.

For difficulty with sleep, start with 150 mg, 45 minutes before bed. If that dose is insufficient, gradually increase to 600 mg.

If you are using the herb, use one teaspoon of powdered valerian root in one pint of boiling water for ten minutes in a covered pot. Strain and add honey to taste. Drink one cup per day before bed.

For severe anxiety, add 1 drop of valerian oil to bath water.
Intervals of two-to-four week breaks are recommended, to avoid habituation.
