Medicare and medicad question.? |
i went to see they said he was private psychartist but before i went to him i was seeing another psychartist the insurance i had at first was just medicaid. they told me i had to find another doctor because i had medicaid. then i went to this other doctor at first they took me for a few months then he charged me a co-pay that i could not afford. then i got medicare and of course i tried to find another doctor the same one i had for 10yrs or longer.do you think the private doctor tried to take advantage of a poor person.of course im disabiled with paranoid schizophrenia.how can you tell if there will be a co-pay or not.can someone explain the medicare medicaid system. Go see your caseworker. I think medicaid is not allowed to charge a copay. Medicare has copays. I think you really need to ask your Medicare or Medicaid representative or caseworker. The doctors don't decide about a co-pay, the insurance companies do. It's possible the doctor wasn't aware that you were supposed to pay a co-pay for awhile and when he found out there was a big balance in co-pays that your insurance company didn't pay. I don't think they deliberately tried to take advantage of you becasue you're poor or sick. If the private doctor saw you while on medicaid and was not contracted with medicaid, then the doctor can charge you whatever they please. There is a co pay for medicare. I pay it every time I go to the doctor. Medicare always has a co-pay. For Medicade, it depends on the state. However, if you have medicade, you are allowed to not pay the co-pay. A health provider, at least for prescriptions, cannot deny you a service based on not being able to pay the co-pay. |
