I Qualify for Medicare do to disability- How long will it last?

I am under 65 and I had a kidney transplant which automaticly qualified me for 3 years of Medicare. I did not apply at that time due to my private insurance coverage. However after receiving 25 months of Social Security Disability a person automaticly qualifies for Medicare without having to apply. They sent me a Medicade Card based on the 25 months. How long will this coverage last?

As long as Social Security considers you to be disabled under their rules and regulations.

If Social Security one day considers you not disabled anymore and they take you off of Medicare and you still think that you are disabled then get a lawyer to refile for you.

If you have Medicare due to a disability then it will last as long as you are deemed disabled. Medicaid is a different program for people who meet certain low income requirements and you will continue to be eligible as long as you income and assets stay below a certain level. Visit the link above to find a chart listing the requirements

What state are you in? I would try to work with the case worker in the SS administration to apply for the Medicaid coverage!!!!
