Does Medicare cover expense of eye exam for diabetic-induced retinopathy?

I also have a medigap policy thru Blue Cross but Medicare is primary. Don' know if BC/BS covers it either.

Yes. Medicare will cover a yearly diabetic eye exam (assuming your doctor is a provider for medicare in your state). The only thing medicare will not cover is a refraction fee. This ranges from $10-50 depending on how much that practice wants to charge. That is what it costs to check for glasses. If you are having no trouble you do not have to have that done. Just tell the doctor or assistant that you would prefer not to have that done. It shouldn't be a big deal.

yes they do, u can also go into eye eman places that do bulk billing at least in aust they do

Yes. I am pretty sure that your insurance should cover the cost of 1 eye exam per year (this includes dilation). Check with your eye doctor or your insurance carrier to be certain about your particular policy.

Good luck and best wishes...
