Medicare gives you a rebate on Medical visits and if your on a concession card it may even cover the full amount of your private Doctor. Medicare also covers all public hospital costs. It however does not cover Dental surgery unless you go to the Public dental hospital which there is a huge waiting list for.

Once you have spent more than the PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme) threshold amount on medicine in a year you get it cheaper. This is called the PBS safety net.
For concession card holders the threshold is $253.80 of eligible spending, and after that you receive medicines for free.

NO only doctors fees no medicine or dental

yes it does, but there is a small fee (i think)on most medications... but i do get a huge discount on my meds through medicare. where i live i went to a govt. dental clinic through 'community health'. but i dont know about the criteria to meet for the free service (i think you need to be unemployed or on a pension). im on a pension so qualify. 2 years ago i had a filling done there and it fell out a day later.most of the time they prefer to just rip your teeth out rather than repair them though. since then i have had further work done on my teeth in the philippines. the work was quality and the cost amazing,,, $10.00 australian to drill out an old filling and put a new one in! if you need to spend a few thousand on your teeth go to the philippines, youll have a great holiday, get your teeth done and come back with some spare cash!
