Who is eligible for Medicare and Medicaid?

I am 63 years old, and I have a pretty good private insurance plan. However, other seniors keep asking me if I have Medicare. I know absolutely nothing about Medicare and Medicaid. Is eligibility based upon age, or income, or both?

Medicare is based on age and/or disability.

Medicaid is based on being a minor without health insurance, the caregiver of a minor who qualifies for assistance, and all immigrants legal and illegal.
