Stupid Medicaid?

My fiance' has been on medicaid since he was 8; now he is 23. He has Type 1 diabetes and is on an insulin pump for uncontrolled diabetes. I went to pick up his insulin from the pharmacy and they told me he had been dropped from Medicaid.

Medicaid never notified him to let him know he would be dropped. And now we are struggling to come up with the 300 dollars for his insulin, and there is no way we can afford his pump supplies.

can they just drop him without letting us know? he only brings in 700 dollars a month so it isnt income thats the problem. I need help!

How can i get him back on Medicaid!? Do we need a lawyer? I need some answers before my fiance' gets sick over this.

Medicaid has 3 different types: children's under 18, adult medicaid (he would have had to reapply at 18) and SSI medicaid.. They have medical spenddown available also. Contact the caseworkers IMMEDIATELY. They are real bad for saying "we sent the papers" (the you didn't get) or "we didn't get the papers you sent (even if you hand delievered them.)... Happens to me a LOT. GL

Depending on the state you live in , you can look online at your states site, and look up medicaid.
Also you can call the local food stamp office where you sign up with medicaid and talk to his case worker, The usually drop or close the account if the person, doesn't make their meeting or update there stuff.
It may be something that simple, where they will pay back thirty days if you get ahold of them and its reinstated.
When you call his case worker you may also what to double check that all the information is updated.
Hope this helps.

contact medicaid office in your area immediatly/ and find out why he was dropped/go to agencys that will help with this/they r out there/ contact the company that his insulin is made by and see if they have a program for this problem /good luck

That is so wrong of Medicade to do. I would try to talk to them at the medicade office to see if that will help. You might also contact the makers of the insuling and see if thet will give you some free. Alot of drug companies are doing that now for low income people. If you cannot resolve this issue I would most definately contact a lawyer.

Yea that was wrong, try contacting the main place then get a lawyer

I think your fiance is being less than truthful.

At any rate, call his case-worker tomorrow. Perhaps he is on a Medicare part D plan.

Something unrelated: Do you really want to marry a guy that needs his fiance' to handle his problems?

I hope you have a good job. What kind of life can someone provide making $700 a month.
