Medicaid and gastric bypass?

Please help. My mother received the gastric bypass surgery three years ago and it has helped her very much. She has lost over 200 pounds. Now the problem is she has a lot of leftover skin. What I don't know is if her doctor doesn't take Medicaid to do the plastic surgery of the skin or if Medicaid doesn't even pay for it. Can somebody please tell me if Medicaid pays to remove some of the access skin. Thank you so much

i think that is considered cosmetic surgey and i really doubt that medicaid covers cosmetic...i believe they have a website and maybe you can e-mail them your question?...

They will pay for it if it medically necessary.

Tell her to call medicaid and just ask. Have her ask for names of plastic surgeons who take medicaid and have her see one of those surgeons. He/she will be able to tell her if she is covered, if it is medically necessary or not.

If she has any type of skin infections she needs to take pictures and document them.
