Medicaid nursing home benefits? |
My wife had a massive stroke and our private insurance covers only 60 days in a nursing home, but only if progress is being made. We have been told that- since the stroke occurred 63 days prior to her Medicare eligibility- after 60 days, (unless she is readmitted to the hospital for 3 full days for a bona fide reason) Medicaid is our sole oprion for full time nursing home care. Is this true? What are Medicaid nursing home benefits and how is eligibility determined? Are these sub-standard facilities or are they the same as those allowed by Medicare? To qualify for medicaid, you'll probably have to spend all her money before it'll kick in. You can apply and see what you receive. You might get a pay down or nothing at all. |
