I'm on Medicaid and I just found I have uterine cancer what will they cover?

I have known for a whie that I have Endometrosis but Yesterday I found out It is now cancer.I am scared to death I was just about to be put on Bluecross&Blueshield with my husband. Will Medicaid cover me and take care of me like bluecross would?

Medicaid is never as good as private insurance, but what matters is not whether or not they will take care of you, since that is the doctor's job, but rather, how much they will cover. And the answer is, as much as BC/BS would. "Medicaid eligibility groups classified as categorically needy are entitled to the following services unless waived under section 1115 of the Medicaid law. These service entitlements do not apply to the SCHIP programs.
1.) Inpatient hospital (excluding inpatient services in institutions for mental disease.
2.) Outpatient hospital including Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and if permitted under state law, rural health clinic and other ambulatory services provided by a rural health clinic which are otherwise included under states鈥?plans." - from Dept. of Health & Human Services, Center for Medicaid Services. Medicaid also has to pay for doctor visits related to your endometrial cancer as well as any lab/diagnostic tests you might need. Back to your original question, the limitation of Medicaid you might find most vexing is the ability to choose an gyn-oncologist of your choice. BC/BS would likely cover a private specialist of your choice, while state insurance dictates who see and where. These are a few things to think about; of course you want the best possible care. Good luck and hope it all works out in your favor.

Thank you. I was worried to death about being a Guinna pig for medical research. I know that sounds crazy but when your depending on the government ,and your life is at stake you get somewhat fearful having cancer at 30 years old is scary enough especially when you have a small child to care for. Report It

lucky you didn't transfer your cover because there's usually a withholding period when you sign up for health insurance.

not sure which state you from but in my state medicaid is the best insurance you can have. it pays for everything. and if the dr. and hospital accepts the insurance, you are not responsible for anything financially. the prescription benefits are unbelievable ,,,, the most you can be charged for a script is $3.00 ,,,,, i wish i had that kind of insurance. my sucks compared to it.
