Medicaid Eligibility? Please help!!!? |
Can a pregnant women that makes 27,000/year gross be eligible for medicaid. She just bought a home (100% financed) almost a year ago. Will that effect her chances of getting medicaid? She have roomates that are helping her out with the mortgage. I know in Texas it is quite easy to get medicaid for a pregnant woman and probably anywhere else. Pregnant women are treated differently. The government wants it to be as easy as possible to take care of yourself when one is pregnant. It's basically temporary medicaid that lasts like until a month after the baby is born, the baby will then be automatically put on medicaid for up to one year unless the mother decides to put baby on different insurance. More than likely she will qualify-like I said pregnancy is different than just needing insurance for yourself. All she has to do is apply-it is quite easy. Insurance is ridiculously expensive and with her income and situation everyone is quite aware that it is impossible without being flat broke to buy insurance. Roommates will effect this, and that is a whopping amount of money according to Medicade. medicaid eligibility is different in every state. Most states have a website that shows eligibility guidelines. Tell her to contact the county health department. The income level varies from state to state. They will give her all the information she needs. That's not very much money even for a householdof just one person so they should be able to help her with something. From checking this earlier, you are limited to amount of money, assets, income and the nature of the 'illness'. you will be asked to provide all expenses, assets, debts, etc. |
