Medicaid Doctors?

I am on disablitly, I recieved a Medicaid card. I can not find a doctor who accepts medicaid . I live in Suffolk County, New York(Long island). This is insane !!!

it's getting that way where I live. Do u also get medicare..if u do that is ur primary and so that's what they will accept.. Most only do Medicaid as primary if you are children or pregnant.. The doctors that do take it have a limited # of patients they can take..due to the fact that Medicaid may only pay once every 6 months...

I know exactly how you feel. There should be a clinic near you that will accept it. You can also call the hospital and ask if they can give you a list on the telephone. You can also call the Department of Human services, they used to carry a list of who will accept them as well. Wait until you need glasses. You may find one that will give you the eye exam, but won't sell you the glasses. So you have to travel clear across town to one that will.

Call Social Services and request a list of medical professionals who accept Medicaid. They will send you a booklet, free of charge, which gives the names, addresses, and phone numbers of all types of medical professional who accept Medicaid.

Once you have the book, you will need to call the offices you choose and ask if they are accepting new Medicaid patients.
