Getting a paycheck from Medicaid ..? |
My wife has gotten recently ill and is a wheelchair bound born paraplegic, so she needs a little help doing things as it is..Now that she has gotten ill, she is going to need 24 hr care for about the next 8 months. The doctors said that if I can take care of her at home (which I have no problem doing) then she doesn't have to go to a nursing home. We have a home health aid coming in 3 days a week to check on things because her Medcaid covers it. It won't pay for a full time nurse and I don't want some stranger taking care of my wife while I'm not home (I'm sure you can all understand that) So my question is..since I'm going to be giving her 24 hr care, I'm not gonna to be making income (she gets SSI so my paycheck is just extra after bills) Will Medicaid pay me to be her so- called stay at home nurse? Is there anyway to make an income while I'm home with her? No. You must be a licensed provider having a medicaid provider number. As far as I know they won't, but that was what it was like 2 years ago, it might have changed but I'm not sure, you're going to have to contact Medicaid and see what they can do for you. |
