Could I have Measles?

I had flu like symptoms all weekend. Today, I was at work and noticed little red hive like spots on my hands. Some looked like polka dots, others like a rash, none are raised or itch. Looking further I viewed my arms, there were red spots, very noticeable on the backside of my arms. There were also spots on my legs (small redish polka dots) and chest. My work made me go to the doctor and he looked at my entire body and inside my mouth and said that he thinks it is measles. He said he could do a blood test but by the time the results would come back, it'd be gone anyway and to quarantine myself and stay home. Calling him back and asking if it could be an interaction to the Zoloft I take, he said it doesn't share the pattern of an allergic or medication reaction and so he doubts it. Looking online it seems measles is EXTREMELY rare (though my Dr. said he sees about 3 cases a year, usually adults, and I trust him immensely). Is it possible to have measles as an adult in this day and age?

yes it is very possible and from your description that would be my guess too. It sounds exactly like what my children had last year. Yes they got the measles even though they had been vaccinated. I found out that sometimes a persons body will not develop immunity to some diseases even if they are vaccinated or had the disease

Yes it is very possible especially if you were never vaccinated for them or never exposed to them before.

I got measles at 20, despite the fact I had been vaccinated. I was sick for over a week, with a horrible headache for the first 3. Like an idiot, I didn't go to the doctor, just figured it out later. If you wanted a blood test, why not do one? He's probably right about not going out in public at this point. Just stay at home, and call him if you get worse or new symptoms.
