How long is the average hospital stay for a double mastectomy?

I just found out yesterday that an aunt of mine has breast cancer. I have no idea how severe the cancer is. She is going thru a double mastectomy today. Anyone have a clue on how long a hospital stay is for this? thanks so much.

I am trying to remember how long I stayed in. I think it was 2 nights, but I am not positive. I will be thinking of you and your family today, and hoping for the best.

I stayed 4 nights with a single mastectomy, my doctor was a huge proponant of keeping women in the hospital as long as possible and didn't send me home til I was really ready. (I had 2 children under 4 in the house though, so I think she took that into consideration as well!)

Usually just 2 or 3 days as long as she is healing fine.
