How to cope with a hysterectomy and double mastectomy?

My sister works with a lady who just went through that and chemo as well.

I really think the high stress working full time and all the fast paced life style we live contributes to cancer prevalence. Don't you?

She should utilize one of the many agencies out there to support cancer patients and their families. Her Oncologist should be able to direct her to a good one. Speaking from experience, it is really important to deal with the feelings one has after this type of surgery and diagnosis...her mental health will contribute much to her survival and fighting the cancer. Her friends and family just need to be very patient with her, let her feel what she needs to feel and support her in any way that she will allow them to support her. I'll add her and her family to my prayer list : )

seek counseling

her hormones are going to be totally out of whack - probably for the rest of her life, despite pills and supplements.

Be prepared for her mood swings, irritability, and yes, her sadness at losing so much to cancer.

Talk to her, be her friend, be compassionate and understanding. Do what you can to help her - but never, ever say or act like you know what she's going through. You cannot possibly comprehend the enormous physical and psychological changes she's going through.

As Erin Brockovich said "you're still a woman, just a much happier woman cause you dont have to worry about maxi pads and underwire"
Makes sense. What makes you a woman is your hormones, not the presence of a uterus or breasts.

i would rather have a hysterectomy and a double mastectomy if it prolongs my life or makes it so the cancer is dead... Life keeps going - ADOPT and get a Breats implant... but the key is that they will go on living
