Marijuana Health Issues?

I know the number one issue when using Marijuana, I believe, is that it kills your brain cells. I wonder though, how much does it really effect you? Lets say, I smoked once a day, 3 times a week. How much of a health problem would I encounter later in the future?

Also, is smoking Marijuana anymore bad than smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol? I just want to know the basic health issues you will encounter later in the future for using the drug, Marijuana? Also, does anyone know the approximate life span of one who smokes Marijuana? Lastly, is there any good things Marijuana provides your body? If so, what, and is it more good or bad?

Any information would be gladly appreciated, thank you.

"None of the medical tests currently used to detect brain damage in humans have found harm from marijuana, even from long term high-dose use. An early study reported brain damage in rhesus monkeys after six months exposure to high concentrations of marijuana smoke. In a recent, more carefully conducted study, researchers found no evidence of brain abnormality in monkeys that were forced to inhale the equivalent of four to five marijuana cigarettes every day for a year. The claim that marijuana kills brain cells is based on a speculative report dating back a quarter of a century that has never been supported by any scientific study."

Although they are kind of skewed. The Lindesmith Center is a drug policy research institute created by George Soros. I personally don't feel that long term marijuana use is any worse than long term alcohol use, which can cause liver and brain damage. Marijuana may wreak havoc on your lungs. Inhaling smoke isn't the best thing for your precious little alveoli. One night of binge drinking can lead to your death. One night of binge smoking on the other hand won't do more than make you really hungry, giggle, and maybe paranoid. I definitely wouldn't recommend driving.

I beleive MJ can kill brain cells but so does Alcohol and cigarettes. 2 are legal and one is not. If you are not a regular pot smoker I would say stay away and don't start a bad habit.
It is used for severe illnesses cancer, and severe pain. It can increase your appetite, and maybe the only thing that can quell the nausea and let you eat a little, When you are suffering from stage 3 or 4 cancer. Other than that I personally think it should be left alone. I know of people who smoke occasionally like people drink but that is a personal choice.

Marijuana is safer then cigerettes and alcohol. Smoking once a day 3 times a week won't do anything at all to you. You might get a bit lazy while you're high but afterwards it won't affect anything you do. Marijuana has been mislabled and given different ill effects for years now as governments try to keep it illegal. This is my personal knowledge from research on the subject.

Marijuana is a drug and even though many speculate it to be the gateway to cocain and other drugs it is no where near as bad. Cocaine is chemicals, and marijuana is completely herbal. The THC in marijuana messes with your brain cells sure, but not enough to do any real long term harm. Its your lungs you should worry about, smoking a joint is like smoking 4 ciggarettes. Marijuana is used by many cancer patients LEGALLY and by many people for pain management. Its benefits are relaxation. The only side effects are lazy, goofy, HUNGRY and relaxed. So alcohol causes death by drinking and driving, being drunk makes you do stupid things and it is bad for your liver, marijuana is bad for your lungs, throat and the alike. Alcohol you can also drink too much and die you wont die from a marijuana overdose. You decide.

you know, I have often wondered about the so called "burn out" myself, and I do, in fact, know a couple of long time pot smokers who are totally burnt out and not the brightest stars in the sky, to put it nicely. But I also know people who smoke tons of pot and are professionals and work in high paying, high stress jobs who aren't totally burnt out, so I guess I have no answere, sorry :(

I had a best friend, my cousin. He was a loving caring normal guy. He started to smoke a few joints a week. After continuing this habit for a few years he was a schitzophrenic wreck, ruled by the demons in his head and searching on the internet for machine guns to kill the "devil worshiping neighbours". He lived in a terrifying fantasy world and was to afraid to leave his house for two years. He is now on medication which controls the symptoms but has numbed his brain to such an extent that he can not care for himself and can not have a normal conversation.
Marijuana gives you a high by messing with the chemicals in your brain and how it functions. It stays in your system for months after you have smoked it, in high enough levels to be detected in a drug test.
Your brain is a delicate organ and functions on a highly tuned balance of chemicals. Mess with it at your own peril.

in low doses marijuana is a depressant (it slows down ur central nervous system) however in high doses it is a hallucagen

I do both but at the same time I can take it or leave it!! My one brother has been smoking at least 3 times a week for at least 15 yrs that I know of & his memory is sharp. He can remember stuff from years ago. My other brother takes it for his seizures. His memory is not the greatest even before he started smoking his brain was not great!! He starting having seizures when he was 10 & he started smoking when he was 14 after the medicine he was given didn't work. He still takes medication to this day but also smokes when he feels like he will have one. He also smokes when he gets stressed to try to prevent a seizure. He has not had a seizure in 2 years but still gets the feeling that he will.

Now my sister has 3 boys. 10, 5, 4 months old. She had such morning sickness all day that her doctor wanted to have her admitted to the hospital. She was in the hospital for 10 days then came home. She had a RN come help her & the nurse said that she could try smoking MJ to help her so she could eat! She did & was able to eat & keep everything down! My 1st nephew (6 lb 6 oz, 18 inches long) born @ 36 weeks 2 weeks early (normal for 1st pregnancy) she had preclampsa & toxicma. 2nd born @ 32 weeks (5lb 6oz 18 inches) preclampsa & toxicma had breathing problem he has asthma. 3rd born @ 38 weeks (7 lb 14 oz 21 inches) they are all in good health & she smoked with all of them!! She only smokes when she is pregnant & yes her doctor knew!!

As for me it helps with my migraine headaches, cramps & my
stomach. I have an ulcer & it helps relax me. I don't smoke all the time & I don't crave it. I also drink & smoke cigarettes maybe a pack every two weeks. I basically drink about 7 seven times a year! A few years ago I drank & smoked for the first time & enjoyed it but have not done it since!! I up till recently only smoked with my brothers but now I sometimes smoke with my nephew, niece & sister-in-law! I have notice nothing different from before to now just when I am high I feel relaxed & I am calm. I hope this helps!

Also you must know that Native American Indians smoked pot & they had no problems! They smoked & offered pot to their gods, at feasts, ceremony dances & harvests. Plus Indians also smoked tabacco & used tabacco for wound care & healing people! They have used pot & tabacco for years, decades, centeries with no problems!! It's just our government that wants to control us! If pot & tabacco are as bad as people say then why have Indians used them for generations? It makes no sense!!
