Is marijuana really that bad?

ok so ive reading lately...and im startin to be convinced that marijuana really isnt that bad a drug. apparantly there realy isnt any proof that it harms u and there arnt any deaths from marijuana either...y is it so bad then? y the heck is it illegal? i mean cigs are proven to kill and yet theyre perfectly legal. can u really get any type of lung cacner / brain damage or anything else from marijuana? besides the fact that it makes u hungry and feel good....wat else does it do? seriously how much of a health hazard is it really? they say smoking a joint is like smoking 6 cigs....mhm yea rite i dont buy that. i would like answers with actual facts and listing resources would also be appreciated.

marijuana is very unlikely to kill you, or even give you cancer (although it's possible)

It should be made legal, so people can make up their own minds, and also since prohibition really doesn't work.

BUT, it is also not good for you, and it does cause some damage, it's just a matter of whether you feel that the damage is worth the pleasure of the high.

Marijuana is linked to an increased probability for certain psychiatric conditions (psychosis), although again, the risk is still quite low.

If smoked regularly, it can affect cognitive abilities, and people who chronically smoke perform worse on certain intellectual measures (memory, verbal, mathematical), and it does influence your ability to concentrate and consolidate memories for about 24 hours after smoking.

Just because something is natural, doesn't make it good for you, and as such because it's a natural herb doesn't by default mean that it needs to be legalized...the most powerful toxins are natural...opium is natural. It should be legalized though, because it is not terribly harmful, and the enforcement of marijuana usage arguably creates greater problems than the use of the drug.

I used to smoke, have given it up, still have lots of friends that smoke. It should be a personal decision, and it should be based on factual knowledge of the risks and benefits.

Marijuana or any other kind of smoke can cause lung cancer the thing about 6 cigs probably depends on additives to the marijuana

It hasnt been reported to be the DIRECT cause of any deaths. But there can and im sure there are definetely deaths from DUIS's and other stuff that happends because of weed. Yeah compared to meth and coke its a lot safer, but it does kill your brain cells. and often times people do really stupid sh*t that hurts them and it could be fatal. I dont think it should be llegal, because it it becomes legal then everyones going to do it.

WHAT THEY SHOULD DO IS make the punishment of possesion of crack and coccaine the same. Poor people are punished more severly than rich people who get a slap on the wrist.

Most people do not under stand the risks, firstly if you are young and healthy marijuana will not affect you too badly. But if you continue to smoke the problems will be when you get near your later years when liver and kidney and lung problems will occur. Many people have these problems prematurley due to smoking. The more you destroy the alveoli in your lungs the less the body can maintain an adequate oxygen supply to your brain. Often people who are heavy users can be noticed by the way they conduct themselves. Thier bodies keeness has lost it's edge.

You are right, it's not. It was made illegal in 1937 because Mexicans & black Jazz musicians were smoking it and they didn't want them here so they made it seem like it was bad because people who made "the devil's music" used it. And then the whole reefer madness happened and tons of lies were spread about it, and as you said, cigarettes which kill over 400,000 people a year remain perfectly legal.

They should stop lying about it 'cause when people find out, they want to do it even more, and they start suspecting the government of lying about other things too.

This has been a worrying question for many people. And, one wonders why one would turn to a drug, but, really it is a herb, if not synthesized and concentrated.

Source Ref 1. The Herb Book is the best reference I've ever seen on the subject. As a herb is actually called Cannabis, without being put into a concentrated form as do pharmaceutical companies and others..., which has made it unstable, there shows no deaths from the herb the leaf, bud and fruit. (This herb I stress is also known as marijana).

As quoted - before, it was restricted the medical uses the properties were to make one happy and bouyant, relieve pain, an agent that deadens sensation, stops asthma, stops spasms, preventative for neuralgia, oxytocic - speeds up childbirth, anti-depressant and a tranquillizer, easier withdrawals from alcohol and opiates. The acutal medical terms I've broken down by using the glossary, so that laypeople like us can understand the definitions I've looked up.

It would appear, where the world has become very depressed, with nothing anyone can do without it being against the law, there are more good things for it then bad:)

That's just my opinion, I usually prefer to remain depressed:) But, try and do something about it. I love getting out where it is free, but I don't like snakes, but, people could ask for reforms by police, ask for Entrepreneurs to contribute to looking after the environment and give a person a job expecting to have no return, because the return is in it's beauty and beauty needs Rangers, guardians etc for that is why there are laws.

It depends, I've known people that've gatting high for years, well no damage whatsoever or so it seems. For me it was different. Eventually I developed an anxiety disorder and depression. Right now I can't smoke, as much as I liked it I realized it has an effect on my health so I decided to stop. So yeah, I guess it depends on the individual, for me it wasn't positive.

Man, rent the movie "Grass". It explains everything. Pot was originally made illegal back in the day when they were realizing that cocaine and heroin were really bad for you. Up until that point, you could buy those is any store in a lot of over the counter tonics and remedies. Then, when they made those illegal, marijuana soon followed suit. However, at the time, no one really did marijuana except Mexicans and African Americans and Native Americans and basically it was originally used as a a form of legal discrimination. Then, in the 60s and 70 when more and more suburban middle class white kids were ending up locked up because of it, they realized that maybe the penalties were harsher than the drug itself and they relaxed a lot of the laws.

You know, it really isn't that bad and you're right, it's certainly not as bad as cigarettes and alcohol, however, the government taxes the hell out of both of them and how in the hell are they gonna tax a plant? I mean, many states have decriminalized possession recently, but we still have a long way to go.

Anyway, watch that movie. It will blow your mind, I swear!
