Do I maybe have mild Marfan Syndrome? |
We were learning about mutations in Biology class, and Marfan Syndrome really sounded a lot like me. Here are some things that may be considered symptoms? Also: I thought of a couple other things. Can you cross your legs and have the one that is on top touch the floor? Do your fingertips reach past your knees when standing up straight? Those are other possible indicators. I dated a guy in high school that had that. He was 6'7 and had an 80" span from fingertip to fingertip. It's pretty rare. I wouldn't be too worried about it. If you are concerned, go see a doctor, they can do an EKG and check your heart. if you think you might have it go see your doctor its very important that marfans get checked as it could lead to death and not all marfans have them signs i am a marfan inside [heart eyes and bones ] so get it checked out OK girl may you not have marfan and be fit and healthy Report It I have a mild case of Marfan, and it seems like you have it. I can relate to all of this- especially the blackout.dizzy spells. The height and shoe size fit the bill! Please go to a doctor, and do not hesitate. Not to scare you, but many people die because they have not been diagnosed. Report It I might also point out that it was in fact a good thing you identified with the symptoms- self diagnosis can honestly save you. My grandpa saw that I corresponded with many of the Marfan symptoms when I was 3, so they caught it early on. Lori- I wouldn't be too quick to judge. Report It only a doctor can diagnose this have your mom take you to the doctor. i doubt it though It is funny, but when you take biology or are studying different diseases for some reason, you always seem to be able to identify with some of the symptoms. That is why it is not good for people to try and diagnose themselves. I doubt it. But check with a doctor. Honey, you're 5'9"... a size 12 shoe is kind of normal. And so is long arms and fingers at 5'9". The blackouts do need to be checked out though. You're shoulders could be just double-jointed-ness. If you're really concerned, go to the doc. Don't stress though. Sounds like a lot of teenage girls. |
