Anyone know someone with Marfan syndrome? |
I think I may, I have a lot of the symptoms for it, but my dad was denied health benefits from the Air Force VA when he retired, because they said he didn't have it, though he has a lot of the same symptoms.. Yes, I worked with someone who had it. Marfan syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects the connective tissues of the body. For some reason it has a predilection to affect the eyes, the joints, and particularly the middle and inner layers of your major arteries, especially the aorta. People with Marfan tend to have a particular "look" about them because of their connective tissue problems, such as long, hyperextensible fingers, long limbs, and a prominent forehead. It's a fairly rare disorder, so I wouldn't count on finding someone here. But with the number of users on this site, anything can happen. I believe Hank Gathers (deceased basketball player) had Marfan's Syndrome. nope...never heard of it no yes I do- one of my co-workers My cousin has it. Do you? I have always heard a way to test for it is to place your thumb in the palm of your hand and close your fingers over it. If the end of your thumb sticks out past your little finger then it is very possible you have it. But to be sure you will have to go to the Doctor and have a bunch of tests. |
