How serious is Marfan's syndrome?

It's pretty serious. It's a disorder affecting your connective tissue, which is what holds all your body parts together. It can cause blindness, heart disorders, collapsed lungs, and other serious complications. The heart disorders are the most serious problem associated with Marfan's, however, with consistent medical assistance, people with Marfan's can live well into their 60's.

Marfan's, from what I understand, is most prevalant in extremely tall people and can often result in the sudden loss of life. They say that Abraham Lincoln had it, and that he probably would've died from it within a year anyway.

It is widely speculated that President Lincoln suffered from Marfan's. It is said to be quite painful.
