Sex, Pregnancy, Parenthood and Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD)?

1. He's worried my womb 'might not be safe' and that it might be too dangerous for me to have a kid if we did decide to. Would this be the case, and if not, does anyone know of somebody who can give us more info?

2. Before we get to that stage, is it safe for females with MSUD to take the pill?

3. Not that we'd ever want to, but just so we have the info, what about abortion - are there more risks if you have MSUD?

4. Are caesarian sections safe if you have MSUD or are they too dangerous?

5. During childbirth, how are calorie levels kept up to prevent BCAA levels rising?

6. How many calories and things are needed to be consumed, formula/maxijul etc. when caring for a child? Lots more for keeping up with child and your body?

7. Seems upside down now, come to think of it, but how are sexual activities made safe from an energetic point of view - as they are tiring, do you need to have an extra maxijul when taking part in them?

8. Back to pregnancy - can you breast feed a baby if you have MSUD or does it take too much out of you or not give the baby the nutrients it needs?

You really should consult a metabolic disease expert before looking to get pregnant since MSUD (like other metabolic disorders) can lead to severe problems to you and the fetus/newborn if not controlled aggressively
