Should managed care cover alternative therapy?

Should managed care cover alternative therapy?

While I would not go along with blanket coverage of ALL alternative therapies, there certainly are some that have a proven enough track record to be worthwhile...chiropractics, massage therapy, acupuncture, hypnotherapy come to mind.

The problem with any unregulated field, is that there are snake oil salesmen all over the place that give there reputable counterparts a bad name. On the other hand, if we get the government involved in regulating the industry, they would probably drive many good practitioners out of business and drive up the cost in forcing compliance with a huge volume of reporting requirements. So it is definitely a "Catch 22" situation.

I think it should, with the prices paid for health insurance, don't we deserve to have a SAY in the type of care we want? The insurance companies say alternative therapy isn't "proven" to work. With all of the drugs being prescribed these days, with all of the problems that surface after using these drugs, are they proven to "work"?

While the patients sicken more worrying on the disease,
some care takers worry about treatments increasing expenses, Time spared, Grants, Any 'Will' of the patient,
Amazingly some do pray for a faster results what it may be, Relief, cure or !!!!

Why we do not play our 'moral' role to dedicate, if not our body atleast info for scientists, If not our Money&Care to Help patients atleast suggestions & moral support

I believe it's time to make an Oath by self (All Caretakers / well wishers) of the patients to make ourselves more wider caring BLANKET for our near & dear patients before we waste our time debating on legalities ...
