What is the importance of physician coding/reimbursment and manage care?

These links will give you detailed of the cost, quality and importance of reimbursement to consumers and physician/health care providers. It is a broad and lengthy topic but one very important in health care today. It is increasingly important to the consumer due to the quality of care issues that come with practice standards and managed care ethics. If a physician is not paid for care provided or the coding is wrong, they can literally lose their practice.

Malpractice insurance, staffing licensing rules and pay standards for staff can cause catastrophic losses for a new physician with multiple managed care contracts (which most/all have now) if the issues of improper coding or low cost reimbursement issues become pronounced.

The bottom line of it all is the quality, timeliness and appropriateness of care to the consumer. With no time to evaluate patients or proper payment, misdiagnosis becomes an issue. When time is not as issue and physician's are constrained with rules for tests, procedures, critical hospital stay rules, the patient ultimately suffers.

The ultimate goal is balance for all the issues you discussed so that consumers can receive quality care and physician's can do what they do best : Practice medicine.

Hope this assists you!
