I'm a diver and my skin is frequently exposed to saltwater and sun. How can I best take care of my skin?

My facial skin is dryer now than before I got introduced to diving. Also, my pores seem a lot bigger. Moisturizers don't seem to work like they used to. I have combination skin, so it's really hard to manage...I'm torn between putting more moisturizer (because it looks unhealthy) and applying oil control cream (more sebum because of the bigger pores). What's the best remedy to this, without me having to sacrifice my love for diving?

Use pure and natural products - for your face and body.
Also after washing with pure soaps, and adding toner (witch hazel) add a light day cream spf.
If you keep on top of your regime/skin things will improve and your pores will be better.
Also exfoliate your face twice a week and a deep cleaning mask.

You can also exfoliate your skin in the shower with a lufa and natural oils or a sea salt scrub/oils etc.

Don't use creams that contain mineral oils or vaseline/baby oil as this hardens your skin not helps it.

when you dive apply a sun screen with water proof things it may help lock in some moisture -

Lemon Juice.

im taking classes right now and i sort of have the same problem.... go to walmart and buy ivory liquid soap..try the fresh snow it works my mom bought it for me use it right after u get out of the ocean/lake/pool

Fishermen use a cream developed by a norwegian company. And doctors recommend it for people who work with their hands constantly in water. Unfortunately I can't remember it's name at the moment . All I can remember is that the tube had a print of the norwegian flag on it.

try taking a hot shower right after diving.
put on moisterizing lotion right after the shower
on wherever the problem is.
but u have to do it at least twice every day and
every day a week.

nurtagena sunscreen 45. its like a lotion a nice one. you can get waterproof also. i have to use this sunscreen everyday and it works. i also have great big pores. this one worked fine with the other skin cleansing i would do. it was a god send. good luck. and have fun catching that wave.

There are two aspects to the problem. One is what to do while you are in the salty water and the sun, and I think that a sunblock with silicones in it is what is best: sunblock will protect from UV and the silicones will provide some protection from the salty water.

The question is what to do when you are not in the water and out in the sun. You skin has been stressed and you can help it recover by providing nourishment: natural active peptides, hyaluronic acid, sea kelp bioferment and, last but not least, lipids (rosehip oil, ceramides, etc.). Don't forget the antioxidants, both water- and oil-soluble.

For pore size, try a salicylic wash, our clients really like it.

Good luck and best wishes

Hannah
