Any other treatment for period that has lasted for over 30 days??

I have been on my period for over 30 days! Have been given birth control by Dr. which is supposed to help, have been on it over a month (skipped the placebo week and went onto the next pack).

This obviously is not working! Dr. said to give it another month but I just cant get over the fact I have been told to put up with this for another month! I am getting depressed and dont think this is fair! I am only 27 years old, I have kids to take care of, this is not fair for them to have a depressed mom!

So I give this another month then what???

I am looking for someone who has gone through similar problems & managed to successfully treat this in another way other than taking birthcontrol pills!

Let me know!

Thanks!

Talked to a dr today was told to double my birth control a little nervous because already feeling side effects from regular dose, but ready to try anything at this point.

When my twins were born, I had the Depo shot for birth control..... I had a period for 4 months straight, which they said was actually usual for the shot......I was really fed up.....
However, without knowing whether you have had a "procedure" done, or some sorta birth control other than the pill..... I have never heard of this happening...... seems that that could end up being a bit dangerous for you..... Doesn't your doctor worry about the loss, and chances of anemia?

I've never experienced this, but I can't believe the doctor's only answer is to wait! I would get a second opinion from another doctor.

I had that problem. Tried the Depo and it didn't help. Are you having any other problems? Severe cramping, moodiness (other than just being annoyed with the doctor), headaches? If so, you may want to request an internal sonogram. There could be a pollyp or something there. My doctor did a D&C and balloon ablation on me (burned my uterus lining). I was miserable for three weeks after, now, four months later, I barely have a cycle - only worthy of a panty liner for a couple of days.
