Is it really my fault that I am fat?

Medically I think I got screwed from the start was diagnosed with sleep apnea when i was 25 they say I have had it all my life. I was born with a small throat, they could tell by all the scarring in my throat. sleep apnea causes weight gain, increased appetite, fatigue, sleepiness, heart attack, all the good things that make you fat.
I managed to lose 70 pounds last year, i worked at a gym, then got pregnant and gained it all back, now I have diabetes. I am so tired of being hungry all the time. So I am thinking of having that Lap band surgery, BTW I take care of my husband and baby, I also exercise 3 times a week and do yoga, im 32 years old 5'6 and weigh close to 320. I know a few fat lazy people, I am not one of them. What I am saying is some fat people don't have a chance in hell, I believe I am one of them, what do you think?

If you want to have the lap band surgery, these links will help!

I had gastric bypass surgery in April 2005. I started out at 268, now I鈥檓 180 and holding, after 1 year and 7 months. These links will help you in many ways to make a decision if this is for you or not. I vote yes, because it made such a difference in my life. I was taking 8 pills a day, and after my surgery, I lost my diabetes. The way they do the surgery, takes your diabetes away. I no longer have to take glucophage, and I no longer have high Cholesterol or high blood pressure. I鈥檓 down to 2 pills a day. I went from a size 26-28 to a 16-18.
Most people struggle with paying for the surgery. Go to this site, it is a great support system for you, because it鈥檚 only people who have had gastric bypass. Every insurance program has been rated, and you鈥檒l get tips on how to deal with your insurance company, as well as, surgery tips, food tips, and just support. http://www.obesityhelp.com/

Vitamins I take鈥? you have to be very faithful about taking them after surgery, because you can become very sick if you don鈥檛. There were recommended by my surgeon and nutritionist.

There is a very good web site by a guy named Basil White. He鈥檚 a govt. worker and a comedian. He walks you through everything. Very interesting. He had the surgery and did well.

Good luck with your surgery and new life!

There is a old saying:

Believe what you are, and it is that you will be.

Keep your head up, and have confidence in your self.

In general, the majority of fat people are much worse than they need to be as a result of their lifestyle (food and exercise).

Some overweight people do have some physiologic and genetic disadvantages that they can't overcome with lifestyle changes. This does not mean that should not do everything they can to live the healthiest life possible which also applies to everyone!

Welcome to my world! I did 1hr of cardio a day 1hr of weight training a day, restricted myself to 1000cals a day and did not lose an ounce! I gained some nifty muscle tone beneath the blubber, but not an ounce of loss.
The diabetes could be the reason that you cannot lose weight. It could be something called PCOS (depending on any 'female' issues you might have...and the fact that you lost, then got PG makes me tend to think it might be) it could be a thyroid problem.

My advice, get to your PCP, have them test for a thyroid problem, have them test for an androgen problem, have them test for anything they think may impact your weight. It will not be easy to get them to do this, but remember if you are active and consuming fewer cals than you are burning there is something wrong if you do not lose.
If all of that comes up negative, go to your ob/gyn and ask to have the PCOS blood panel done.
If all of that comes up negative I am at a loss, usually if you are honest, and consuming less than you are burning, and it is not something medical you will lose weight. Good luck! Stick with it and you will find your answer.

Once a person is heavy for so long, it is hard to reformat the body to make it look slender. The glands won't let it.

Try drinking 60 ounces of water a day. That should help speed up your metabolism a little.

A heavy person is just as healthy as an average fit one. Someone that looks average fit could be on the verge of a heart attack. I have seen it quite a few times.

Nobody knows what is healthy. But I know, partially it is your appearance. You would like to look more slender, but if you are very active then you are healthy so you got something most people don't. A lot of people aren't healthy, they look good, but aren't healthy.

You think models are healthy, I doubt it. They work so hard to keep all the fat off their bodies.

sleep apnea does not cuse obesity and whomever told you that is an idiot...eating too much causes weight gain, it's a math problem, nothing more. It's good that you lost 70 lbs but how could you gain it back having a baby, the most anyone should gain is 24 lbs, not 70. you have a chance to change your life...stop feeling sorry for yourself and stop answering your problems with food...exercise 7 times a week, walk the baby, walk at night, get some tapes and work out with them and STOP EATING....diabetes is a killer, if you lose the weight the symptoms will abate. I work in a hospital and honey, you have no excuse...I see pitiful people everyday who cannot move at all....be thankful you are not them and get moving!

I think you feel that you don't have a chance, but you sound like you are doing all the right things to me you really do, however you probably realise that kind of weight is just not healthy, the surgery sounds really drastic do you know anyone who has had it that you could talk to them about it? if you lost some weight before I am sure you could do it again I know it takes a long time but it'll be worth it in the end and you will feel so proud of yourself.

sometimes when you get to a certain age, you just pile on the pounds / kilos.
that's just life

I hope you're dealing with the sleep apnea. I knew a fat man who had sleep apnea, and another who wasn't fat that had it, and they both used that breathing machine thing. It saved their lives!

The fat man thought his throat was too small, but I knew him when he wasn't fat and he breathed fine. His throat was constricted by all the fat. And he binged every night and lied to himself about it. Ate lots of times a day and pretended he was keeping his blood sugar balanced. Ate too much. Period.

The regular sized guy - I don't know why he has the apnea.

Address the sleep issue. It will save your brain, your patience, your spirit and your body, in time, will adjust. Sounds like you've got the workout routine in order. Eat healthy, be honest with yourself, understand nutrition and - nobody has a chance in hell. Best bet is to get OUT of hell. Your first step is to get a few months worth of good nights' sleep. Then you'll have lots of chances to succeed. Good luck!

Don't dwell on the things you can't change like your sleep apnea. Keep doing what you are doing with the yoga, but try to increase your physical activity during the day. Watch your sugar intake and good luck! You can turn things around.

I think you should definitely not make your problems worse by having lap band surgery. I have head alot on TV of people saying that it wasn't worth it. It can go horribly wrong. You don't have to be hungry all the time if you eat only fruit and veges. You can eat as much as them as you like and they are very satisfying and they don't make you put on any weight at all and do wonders for your immune system. I haven't had a cold in years. I think losing weight is really weird. It is something that can seem impossible to do and then if you cross a line, impossible to stop. It is all about being trapped in habits I guess and what you put first on your priority list. But I do think you only don't have a chance in hell if you say so. I mean things seem impossible but nothing is impossible unless you stop trying at it.

i belive you. I know howe hard it is to loose weight. i am 22 and have struggle with overweight since my early teens. But lap band surgery will i never have after what i found out it can increase your life quality a lot. But good luck to you

I think there's nobody else to blame for the choices that we make with our lives everyday. Whether its the food that we eat or the kind of lifestyle that we want. And I don't think its impossible to change what we've done with those choices; but it is within our power to whether or not decide to do something about it and not sit on our butts all day. Good luck to ya.

Hi,
I've tried all different diets, and the weight loss is only temporary. I finally tried diet pills on the market are made from Hoodia. I saw this stuff on ABC News. It's all natural and safe, and it works! My wife took it for a month and dropped 20 pounds. I took it for a month and lost about 13 (but I didn't exercise).

I bought the natural hoodia from this website: http://www.alllsite.info/free-diet-pills... . I checked the web site address so I can post it here and I saw they're running a promotion now to get a free 2 week sample for only $4.97! I'm going to order this supply for my wife and give it to her for Christmas =)

It's all about calorie consumption:
