Should I be worried about a splinter?

I have a wee tiny splinter in my hand. I managed to dig out the bigger ones but this one is in too deep. Will my body take care of it?

mmm probably. maybe who knows.

Most likely your body will work to expel it, even if it takes a bit of time. Just keep an eye on it and if it looks infected then go to a doctor.

as your body heals, it will push the splinter out and you wont even notice. try and keep it as clean as you can though.

yea i have had this splinter big one in my palm for over 6 years i cant feel it anymore and there is no infection you cant even tell anymore unless you look real hard....it will be fine

Probably, but put antibiotic ointment on it. Are you up to date on your tetanus shots? Very important.

no the body willl not take care of it , it will only heal and more skin covering it. later down the line you will start to feel it again and you will have to dig again so why not get it all out now

yes your body will take care of it. But sitting in a Hottub or a pool,bath, or large body of water... helps it more.

if it stays if might get into your blood veseel at which point it will travel to your heart and get stuck behind your heart valve i.e. you die.

Yes. It will eventually work itself out of your skin. If the area becomes red and inflamed, get it looked at.

it might get a little swollen if you leave it in a month or so

this may hurt but don't worry a lot of people do it and i do it every time i get a splinter. just take a needle and poke a hole where the splinter is and see if you can see the splinter in the hole if you cant make the hole a wee bit deeper and get under the splinter. maybe put some neosporon to make it easier to take out.

Most likely your body will take care of it. I've had so many splinters and they've all just went away. Unless it looks infected I wouldnt worry about it.

well you have two choices let it be for now and put up with the pain of it festering up kind of like a pimple, or dig it out with a knife or a needle of some sort. either way its gonna hurt sorry :(

Of course; unless you have an affliction that means you take a long time to heal, you should be fine in about a week. I have gotten bug stingers, broken needles, wood spinters, and other things stuck in my fingers. They are all gone after a while. What I do if it hurts alot is soak my hand in water. I think it makes it easier to pull out when your skin isn't taut.

It should come out as you start to heal. Just keep it clean, covered when your not sleeping, and watch for infection.

Over time, the splinter started to perforate his intestines and began to get very sick and lost over 50 lbs in a short period of time until his problem was discovered. They actually removed 3 splinters from his intestines (the splinters were there from a board that broke and pierced his abdomen when he was 14).

we have a REALLY old tub in our cupboard so i can't help with a brand or anything i dont even know the proper name..
but you just put some on the splinter then put a bandaid over it and it will come out!

splinter can lead to tetanus or poisoning of the blood. so if you can't dig it out, i suggest you see a doctor, i don't want to give you an advice that we might both regret sooner or later. But, it happened to me and i just let it be in it and after a week, it swelled up and i squeeze it out and finally it went out with a lot of sticky, yucky greenish substance. And it hurts.

it all depends just watch it and see if it gets infected and if it hurts so bad you cant stand it take a needle and use that to get it out it always works for me.
