Is anyone familiar with this disease, treatment, and prognosis? |
My friend had surgery on her thyroid and the doctors had to remove a follicular tumor. She was in the unfortunate 20% category that showed a malignancy. The treatment for follicular cancer of the thyroid depends upon the "stage" (the extent) of the cancer when it is diagnosed. Has it spread beyond the thyroid to the lymph nodes? Has it spread into the surrounding tissues? Has it spread to distant organs (most commonly the bones)? |
