Calling all doctors OR women who have had ovarian tumors? |
i recently had laparascopic surgery to remove a large dermoid tumor on my ovary. the pathology report said it's "mature cystic teratoma." i have had this surgery overseas, and there is a bit of a language barrier with my surgeon. If you are concerned, you should go to your doctor with the Pathology report. In addition, it is not uncommon for the lab to be able to ship your slides to other labs, clinics or hospitals. It would be helpful to have a Pathologist review the slides to confirm the diagnosis. Do yourself an enormous favor and get an MRI. Dont' wait an don't be afraid. If you move quickly, no matter how good or bad the results, you will beat it. I had a laparascopic done when I was about twenty two. I was loaded with inside and had them all removed. I am now forty eight and I am doing good. I only have one cyst and I have that checked once a year with my check up. I would also tell you to take your records to your own doctor and let them have a look. If you are concerned about the path report, you should contact your regular doctor. They will be able to answer and questions or refer you to a specialist that can answer them. It is sometimes difficult to find a doctor that is patient and will explain as much as YOU NEED (not just what they are used to doing). Once you find a good doc, though, keep them. They are certainly worth the trouble. I was diagnosed with an immature teratoma, which is cancerous, in 2001. My gynocologist (lady doctor) was able to help me with the path results. |
