Should I prepare for the worse? Would you please be kind?

14x18mm nodule on the surface of the left hemidiaphragm not seen on the last examination, this could potentially be malignant & new spiculated soft-tissue nodule 19x13mm in the left lower lobe. Malignancy cannot be excluded in this nodule.

No, you don't HAVE to prepare for the worst...look at that word *potential*...and even if it is cancer, you will have support from the medics and nurses to help you understand what is happening and the implications.

"Malignancy can not be excluded" could simply mean "unless we do a biopsy, there is no way to tell if this is benign or malignant".

But of course you can't completely dismiss the possibility of cancer (I know, hubby was diagnosed earlier this year). Try and find some things to do during the weekend that will occupy your mind and help you focus on other things...I know it sounds trite, but worrying won't change anything. And IF IF IF it is cancer, you might as well enjoy the time before you get into all the treatments!

Take care of yourself during this uncertain time. Cook a fabulous dinner!

wait till your doctor gives you a diagnosis and focus on other things.

You do have every right to worry, but I would do what the first answerer suggested and try to focus on other stuff and wait for the diagnosis. You don't have to ignore it, you can do research and stuff like that but just don't let this consume you.

Don't jump to conclusions."Potential" doesn't mean "it is."Let's be sure.

I've had at east 1//2 dozen biospies, to take careof"potential. " So far, so good.

If yu come to my houseI'll introduce you to two cancer survivors who are doing quite well, my wife and a cat. (No,I am not joking. The cat did have cancer.)

It could be a granuloma too, which is a benign body response to wall off infection or irritation with stuff like calcium...they have to either watch it with x-rays (to see if it grows over time..ie if no insurance) or do a biopsy, which might involve some sort of surgery (or a needle biopsy?)...I had a granuloma in the lung with no insurance, so they did an x-ray a year later and it didn't grow...now it is calcified totally... just pray and try not to worry...
