Could I be HPV+?

I was worried that I might be a carrier of hpv, but I had 3 papsmear done since '99 and they are all clean? no malignancy or abnormalities, but wht worries me is that, when I was douching earlier, I felt small bumps on the inside of my vagina, like pimples? I got scared, wht could it be??? I had set an appointment with my OB next week, I am getting paranoid. My sister in law died of cervical cancer at age 36, pls. help.

Hi there,

It is impossible to diagnose any condition over the internet. Period. Yes, it could be hpv but there are other conditions with symptoms similar to human papillomavirus infection such as:

Skin conditions that cause wartlike growths, such as seborrheic keratosis.
Rare skin cancers, such as melanoma or squamous cell cancer of the vulva.
A skin disease caused by a virus (molluscum contagiosum) that produces soft, rounded masses.
A noncancerous tumor of fibrous tissue (fibroma).
A noncancerous tumor of fat tissue (lipoma).
A flattened, moist, raised growth that occurs in advanced syphilis (condyloma latum).
A tumor (adenoma) occurring in a gland, such as a mucus-producing gland.

Really, for piece of mind go see your OB and try to relax. Even if it is HPV, your stress levels will only make matters worse, as stress can help to bring on outbreaks. I know the waiting game is always horrible but if you take your mind off things it helps time pass relatively painlessly.

Cheers.

YOU SHOULD HAVE A PAP TEST EVERY YEAR! IT MAY NOT BE HPV, BUT YOU SHOULD STILL FOLLOW UP WITH THE DR.

don't freak out just go to the obgyn

If your test results returns normally, that's might not be HPV. But we could not dignose it accorssing internet.
